I had a long and stressful week and what's the best thing to NOT relax? Play one of the most insane challenges in the Genesis/Mega Drive console, of course!

The confirmation sound to unlock this difficulty is the same sound Sparkster makes when he dies. That should be enough of a warning to let you know what you're about to get into on your own volition.

Crazy Hard (simply "Hard" in the USA version) is basically the most masochist mode you can think of: everything, no exceptions, is a one-hit kill on Sparkster, you start with 0 lives and absolutely no continues.

Apparently the USA version has this difficulty unlocked by default whereas the European one forces you to input a cheat code to unlock it. It does give the "you brought this upon yourself" vibe, like playing the Level 1 modes of Castlevania in the Nintendo DS, you'd have to be stupid to do go for it *cough*.

Real talk, though? I've done this back in the 2010s, and I aim to do it again, because if I did this thing once, I surely can do it again, right? Right?

The very first level is as dangerous as it gets, especially in the last segment where reckless rocket boosts will get you thrown right into enemies.

Speaking of which, don't expect to see any fancy or crazy stunts with the rocket boosts here, I'm going to play as safely as my patience allows me, rocket boosting is nothing like the dashes in the Megaman X (or Zero) series, once you've blasted one you're committed to that direction and a bad rocket boost WILL get you killed.

The first boss is very predictable, but the pressure of doing this fight damageless after this rather long stage can easily get you to make a fatal mistake here. Curiously this is one of the few bosses you can't destroy by using Sparkster's blade, you're forced to singular hits with your sword beam or rocket boosts.
