If anyone wonders why I don't put "no damage" in the title it's because that would be redundant. ANYTHING that so as much scratches you kills you in this difficult, no exceptions.
The final level of this game is something. It starts off by pitting you against the main villain of the game, except he isn't even a boss here, just a mini-boss to show he's a robot.
The first mini-boss has a simple pattern and he will swap sides most of times after you rocket boost him. It's not a difficult battle, but you have to pay attention to the height of his attacks after rocket boosting.
The second mini-boss here is the final duel against Axel Gear, this time it's a head-to-head fight without any gimmicks.
Axel's battle is in reality extremely simple and trivial, just stand in the center of the arena and use your sword beam to counter him until he moves to phase two. I went for some rocket boosts here and there to give this battle some flair.
The second phase starts when Axel breaks one of the walls, he will fire rockets while flying around the arena, but you can easily handle it. He has a final phase where he uses his rocket spinning boost instead, but you can still use the same rocket boosting tactic and win.
The final boss comes a little after and it's nothing stupidly difficult once you understand how to deal with this fight. You must hit the red probes thingies coming out of the boss to damage him.
I usually go for Rocket Boosts since even if I fumble them usually the post-rocket invincibility (while Sparkster is flailing around) is more than enough to save me from taking a hit.
Once the boss has taken enough damage he will change to a few ranged attacks (lasers and ripple beams), after that you'll have to hit the probes while dealing with the attacks that were shown to you beforehand.
The last phase starts when the regular boss theme starts playing (faster than usual). Rocket boosting to hit the probes is probably the safest option as even if you miss Sparkster has invincibility on him fumbling animation and that can save you from taking hits from the tentacles or the ripple beams. However it's almost impossible to avoid taking a hit at the end of the fight since the boss will be firing the ripple beams ridiculously fast.
Once that's done you still have to deal with the boss chasing you back to the earth. I'm not ashamed to say this might be one of the reasons this damn thing took so long to finish, it's extremely easy to mess up and die here (and you have to re-do the entire boss fight AGAIN if you do die here).
The boss follows a strict pattern but will always try to rush you more to the left or the right side of the screen depending where you and he is and if you misjudge the distance you can very well put yourself in a situation where you won't escape taking a hit or two.
