Rocket Launch - Half Life - BLIND - Episode: 11
And I have no idea why we had to do that.
[Game Description]
"Named Game of the Year by over 50 publications, Valve's debut title blends action and adventure with award-winning technology to create a frighteningly realistic world where players must think to survive. Also includes an exciting multiplayer mode that allows you to play against friends and enemies around the world."
I have never played the original Half-Life nor the many forms or modifications it's taken over the years. It's possibly one of my earliest purchases online and I just never got around to it (to my shame, that is).
To make it worse, I have played its sequel and the episodes that followed, its side spin offs, hell even one of its expansions: Blue Shift! But never the original. So it's time to rectify that.
It's pretty exciting, really! Half-Life was one of those massive genre defining games; its influence can still be felt even now with newer FPS titles.
So here we are playing the original Half-Life, or the closest I can get to it rather. There are many versions, redos, and overhauls of Half Life and I wanted to get as close as possible to how it was back then (not even using the inbuilt texture pack).
I hope you enjoy this playthrough! I've honestly had a great time with it!
[Playthrough Details]
This is a blind playthrough! I know bits and pieces of the original Half Life but 90% of that knowledge is from memes about the scientists.
If you have general advice and such, please know I may or may not take it on board. I much prefer to find my feet with blind playthroughs on my own.
[Mod Information]
Around Episode 9 I decided to install a HUD scaling mod because, at my native resolution, trying to read the damn thing or see your crosshair is near impossible (ESPECIALLY BECAUSE ITS A WEIRD SHADE OF ORANGE).
The mod I am using is called: "Better Scaling HUD" which scales the HUD to 1080p, or 4k, depending on what you need.
You can find the mod here: https://gamebanana.com/mods/24741
Follow the ReadMe within the mod for instructions.
Please note: I not affiliated with this mod in anyway. If you decide to download/use it, do so at your own discretion.
[Purchase]
You can get a hold of your own copy of Half-Life from Steam!
Store page: https://store.steampowered.com/app/70/HalfLife/
Just a heads up: avoid "Half Life: Source." It's a pretty bad redo of the base game and is filled with a ton of bugs and textures. Just get the standard Half-Life.
