If you're thinking about getting a handheld gaming PC, and DayZ, or DayZ modding, are part of your decision making process, then this buyers guide video might be for you.
The Steam Deck is an amazing console-like experience, but it is limited by Steam OS, which is Linux based, so at the moment DayZ (or at least the DayZ launcher) doesn't work correctly, and you can't easily get a local Server working.
The ROG Ally Z1, being Windows 11, can run DayZ and it's launcher no problem, and modding is easy too.
You'll need a cordless / wireless keyboard and mouse for either of these devices with DayZ, so it's not truly a portable experience yet, but hopefully the devs will port over the console gamepad bindings sooner rather than later.
The above info was believed to be correct as of DayZ Update Patch 1.24, April 2024.
Thanks, Rob.
