This video shows the game Rogue Trooper on the Playstation 2 being played online with the LAN tunneling program Xlink Kai. This online gameplay footage is from around may 2011. 2 of us are playing a CO-OP level by LAN tunneling the game through Xlink Kai.

This game was made by Rebellion, who also are the guys who created Sniper Elite. I loved that game, so I was very curious to try this one. The game is tied to some British comic book that I know nothing about, but the gameplay and even the music will feel familiar to those who played Sniper Elite.

This game is a third person shooter with a cover mechanic that works pretty good. You have a lot of weapons and gatchets to choose from and they are pretty fun to use. Sniping is a very useful tactic and feels great since the Sniper Elite people made the game.

Overall the single player of this game was sort of just above average. Some levels felt really awesome, while others weren't so impressive. The experience wasn't all that consistent to me. But I still had a pretty good time playing it. I think Sniper Elite is a much better game personally.

The game has a still functional online mode and a LAN mode. We used the LAN mode because I think the game required port forwarding in order for someone to host and since neither of us playing could touch our routers we played it through LAN tunneling with Xlink Kai instead.

The online and LAN mutliplayer is pretty thrown together. There are a handful of co-op missions you can do, once of which is shown in this video. There are also a couple survival type maps where you try to protect an injured soldier from enemies for a set amount of time. Both modes are fun, but there are very few maps and the co-op levels are just sections from the single player game. If this game had full co-op online or a lot more survival maps the re playability of the multiplayer would be a lot better. After like an hour or so you will have played through all the multiplayer content and it's not the type of thing that is extremely replayable. It is fun while it lasts though.

This multiplayer game of Rogue Trooper was played with a program called Xlink Kai ( http://www.teamxlink.co.uk/ ) .It lets you play PS2 games online even once their online servers are taken down. This means that playstation 2 games can be played online forever. The catch is it only works with games with a LAN mode. This is because the program uses a games LAN to trick the game into thinking players across the world are playing on its Local Area Network (LAN).

If you want more information on how Xlink Kai works and how to set it up, please visit their official website ( http://www.teamxlink.co.uk/ ) and read the "FAQS" at the top of the page.
