Rome 2 Total War: Using Sparta
5Sparta has their own unique problems, but they also have some stupid horde like strengths as well. While a pike box is super annoying, it's one of the only simple ways to use Sparta, and it's something that should be nerfed a little bit (preferably by giving ranged units more ammunition to compensate for the shield boost.) Here's a less dickish way to play Sparta. It still relies heavily on the strengths that you expect of a Spartan army, but it doesn't end in you sitting in a box like a prat while waiting for the clock to run down.
Remember as Sparta, you don't have good cavalry or missile units, and your infantry, while incredibly strong defensively, are weak as hell offensively. You really need to learn how to use many melee units to lock down an enemy and then roll over them with pikes.
