It's been a long time coming but I finally head back to the Royal Melbourne Show. Held at the iconic Melbourne Showgrounds in Melbourne's west, so much has changed from when I last came here with my mum as a little kid.

There's so much to see and do! We started off with a few rides and then hit up the Animal Nursery - an old favourite where young and old alike can get up close and personal by seeing and feeding animals such as goats, pigs and chickens.

After that it was time to stuff our faces, so we headed to The Meadow for lunch. I sat down with a chicken kebab and chips from Shane Delia's Biggie Smalls restaurant. Yummo!

We checked out the PJ Masks show for the kids and I wandered off to the Channel 7 pop up studio where I had the opportunity to do a small news read which was edited as a live cross from Peter Mitchell the channel 7 newsreader.

After that we checked out the Woolworths Fresh Food Pavilion which was a good chance to get desert and check out all the food and drink options that the show had to offer. In hindsight, it was probably better to have gone there before The Meadow but I didn't regret smashing the chicken kebab and chips.

A quick duck in and out of The Emporium which was a fashion, lifestyle and home themed pavilion and The Family Adventure Pavilion which was packed with fun activities.

For the more mature palate we checked out the Winning Tastes area which featured the MasterChef building and had lots of wines, cheese and deserts. I spotted the Wood Chopping on the way to the Spotlight Makers Pavilion which is full of arts and crafts and awesomely decorated cakes.

After all of that we eventually made it to the Showbag Pavilion which was as crazy and packed with people as I remember it from all those years ago. As the sun went down we checked out Jimmy Barnes belting out some hits and then the last thing on our list was the fireworks display which capped off a great day.
