Runescape Branches of Darkmeyer part 5 of 8 Getting Popular on the Middle-Tier
Disclaimer: This is more a video journal than a walkthrough.
The next phase of the quest is about gaining respect in Darkmeyer. Head up some stairs to the middle-tier. Speak with any Sentinel NPC to choose your vampyre name. You need your status bar at 50% full before you can enter the upper-tier and at 75% to enter the arboretum.
From the entrance stairs, look around for a Vyrewatch named Sanguinus. He will ask you to vandalize four posters. The posters are pretty out in the open. Refer to part 5 to see where they are; use the entrance stairs and the musician as landmarkers. For max status, draw cutesy, non-terrifying things on the posters.
The next vamp in need is Grigan who is west of Sanguinus. He will ask you to fetch some pet Bloodvelds. The velds can despawn and respawn in different locations, so don't expect to find all six in one sweep on the area. If you can't find anymore, take a break and try again in a minute or two. Each one will get you a status point.
West of the musician is Valentine Kaust's home. Enter and speak with him to be offered some blood. Agree to drink some and act appreciative or underwhelmed for some status. Be warned drinking the blood halves your LPs.
In the north-east of the middle-tier is prisoner Maria. Speak with her repeatedly and try to say the more offensive choices to terrorize her to gain status. You can also use the angry, trick, and raspberry emotes to mess with her.
With half of your status bar filled, venture into the high-tier. The access staircase is in the south-west part of the middle-tier where you found one of the posters. Speak with the Sentinel at the top of the stairs. To gain the most status from him, you need to be critical about who he brings up, so basically, say you want everyone to die, including Drakan.
Near the Sentinel and a human blood tither is Misdrievus Vakan. He asks you to harass the blood tither. Interact with the tither and you will punch him. Report to Vakan and he will ask you to spy on the tither's meeting with its boss. Venture into the western home (the one south of prayer restoring altar) to trigger a scene and gain more status.
For a little bit more status and to advance the quest, speak with Vanescuela on the upper-tier to have her publicly mark you as her servant. Make sure to repeat what she says correctly.
If you still don't have enough status to enter the Arboretum, go to the south end of the Upper-tier and kill imprisoned Meiyerditch citizens until you are allowed access (when your status bar is 3/4 full).
Run to the arboretum entrance (by the banker) and Ranis Drakan will stop you. Pledge loyalty to him to be allowed to pass. Grab a hatchet from your bank.
Inside the arboretum, the blisterwood tree is too weak for you to dare cut it. Inspect it and pull the lever of a near by contraption to start it's recovery process. To be healed, the tree needs rows of colored orbs to be fed to it in a certain order or under specific conditions. When the rows satisfy the tree's conditions (which you can find out by inspecting the tree), pull the lever to enter the next stage of the puzzle.
After the four stage, the tree is restored and is cut-able.
When you get some logs, a scene will start in which Vanescuela silences her brother Ranis. Speak with her to get Darkmeyer added as a teleport to the Drakan amulet. Use the amulet to teleport to the Meiyerditch Myreque and report in to Vertida.
The group will ask you to slay Vanstrom. Use the knife that you probably still have from Vanescuela or be lent one by Vertida and make a different weapon with each log of Blisterwood. You need to make a polearm, staff, and stake to be allowed to allow access to Vanstrom's house (you don't actually need them all once you're inside). Vertida will also give you some holy water, which you need to finish off Vanstrom.
To make the polearm, you need two silver sickles in your inventory which you can get from Kael.
To survive the fight, you need your Vyre disguise (to enter the house),
great armour (to resist mage and/or melee damage), one of the blisterwood weapons (to use stakes, get more wood from the arboretum to make more), and high healing food (like rocktail). You probably want a beast of burden to hold extra food. I doubt familiar attacks effect Vanstrom (kyatt special didn't hurt him), so it's better to have a beast of burden.
Also, take a dip in the Orge hot springs or have a super energy restore to avoid taking damage from blood bombs.
A super set or extreme potions are also not a bad idea.
REMEMBER THE HOLY WATER!
If you die, your gravestone will appear outside his house. Your Darkmeyer disguise, your blisterwood, holy water, and the Drakan amulet will always be kept at death (but I put the amulet in the bank to be better safe than sorry).
