Runescape One Piercing Note part 5 of 7 Valerio's Secret and Poor Catherina
One Piercing Note has no requirements, but it'd be nice for you to have a Ring of Visibility (from Desert Treasure) and a Ghostpeak amulet (from Restless Ghost).
The abbey of Saint Elspeth is east of Al Kharid. You'll have to climb over a stile and run past the Desert Strykewyrm area.
Start the quest through Sister Catherina, who is waiting outside the abbey.
Catherina will direct you to speak with Abbess Benita. The abbess will ask you to investigate the murder of a nun of Saradomin. She will give you the key to the sister's cell and will tell you to inspect the body and speak with suspects.
There are five people you need to speak with. Right next to Abbess office, question Sister Elena in her kitchen. After Elena, climb the stairs in the north-eastern room of the abbey to the second highest floor. You'll find someone's legs sticking out of machine. Speak with the legs to meet Sister Debora, who will only answers your questions once you fix the clock. Just set the clock to noon. Question her and return downstairs.
Speak with Sisters Cecilia and Catherina in the main altar room of the abbey. Four people down, one more to go. Wrap up the questioning by speaking with Valerio, the traveling troubadour, who is camped south-west of the abbey.
Next, check the body. It is in the south-west room of the abbey. After that, go to the south-east portion of the abbey and find Sister Anna's cell. Investigate her bed and her broken window.
Finish your investigation by checking the bed in the north-west room of the abbey and report to Sister Benita.
A scream will ring out as you finish speaking with Benita. Go to the north-east room through the altar room and descend into the basement.
After the scene with Cecilia freaking out, investigate the blood stains and the body of Sister Elena. Also check out the wardrobe a little south-west of the body, tucked against a wall.
Go back upstairs and speak with Benita. Make sure that she gives you the key to Sister Elena's room.
Speak with Cecilia to learn she saw what she thinks is the Ripper demon. After she regains her nerve, check Sister Elena's bed using her room key. Have your character read the letter, and then find a secret passage in the abbey's kitchen by investigating one of the sacks against the kitchen's north wall.
After learning of the letters and passage, speak with Valerio and confront him about his relationship with Elena. Afterwards, speak with Benita who will ask you to bring Catherina back into the abbey. Speak with dancing Catherina and ask her to return to safety. A cutscene will start, and afterwards, Benita will ask you and Valerio to come up with a solution to the murders.
Suggest a trap and say a new victim is needed for bait. Valerio will concur with the idea of inventing a new victim for the Ripper and will have you make a dummy while Benita announces that the abbey has a new applicant.
Grab a cabbage from the abbey garden and descend into the basement. Interact with the candelabrum that is a little north of the reliquary. After you move it, check the wardrobe you investigated earlier for some robes. Use the cabbage and ropes on the candelabrum and then hide in the wardrobe.
A cutscene will occur, and afterward, try to knockout the killer. The killer will run and you will have to chase it in a counter-clockwise pattern as it flees through the kitchen, toward the abbey entrance, and then to the altar, and finally into the clock-tower.
Go to the top of the clock-tower to face the killer. Finish the conversation with her, and go down a floor to interact with the clock mechanism. Set the mechanism to the start of a new hour so the bell will ring. Go back upstairs and ask the killer if they hear the bell.
The situation will be defused as the bell rings, and it will be up to you to determine how the quest will end.
After the quest, you have the option to make illuminated god-books and claim Saint Elspeth's holy Cithara.
To make an illuminated version of a god-book, you need a standard version of a god-book and 60 Crafting and Prayer. Each step in making the illuminated text requires a few prayer points.
Use your god-book on the work table in the room across from Benita's office. Go through each step in descending order until you get your illuminated text.
To gain the Cithara, you need the Ring of Visibility and a Ghostspeak amulet. You will need to wear six Saradomin items and not be carrying any item associated with another god. You also can not have Ancient Magic or Ancient Curses active. You need to switch to standard prayers and Modern or Lunar Magic.
I used the Citharede robes, a Saradomin Shield, a Saradomin arrow, and a Saradomin staff to get the Cithara.
Runescape Wikia recommends using a Sara Crozier, a Sara arrow, and a damaged holy book to reach the six item requirement. If you don't feel like fetching the holy book from the Lighthouse, then just buy some Sara vambraces.
Getting the Cithara gets you 50K prayer experience.
