S2 E6 "The Legacy of Romulus Primus" Mount & Blade II: BANNERLORD Campaign
"With victories; also comes the bitter irony of defeat." A truth passed down from a Leader beyond the grave and something that Romulus would consider more closely given the circumstances.
Still upon the frontlines in the now second "War of the West." The Army of Romulus Primus finds itself carrying a new banner and protector of 2 more new members of the Commanders family: the future Heir of House Primus Ragnar and Princess Esther.
Having heard this news there was a renewed sense of honour within the files and ranks as the army marched forth.
marching, battling, sieging castles. There seemed no stopping the army of Romulus. But the most ice chilling moment was when Romulus got the opportunity to tame a "Mongrel;" High King CALADOG of the Battanians.
As Romulus lead his army. Caladogtook to the surrounding hills and prepared. However there was one major failure on Caladogs part: CAVALRY. Something that surprising Romulus used to the full. Flanking to the enemies far right and looping from behind- the Battanians were caught well beyond they knew what had hit them: A PRIMUS!
Ordering his infantry to charge. Romulus with his Great Axe in hand sliced the Battanians apart and unhorsed Caladog. n the end a very meek Caladog trembled before Romulus, asking for mercy. Something that Romulus has in short supply. But instead of trying Caladogs head; throw him instead in the cells of VARCHEG to await the final results of the War.
But Caladog did not need to land the strike that stopped Romulus and his army DEAD in its tracks.
That came from the 1075 strong Vlandian Army that aimed straight for FLINTOLG CASTLE. Already beseiging the castle. Romulus had no choice but to break in and help in the defence of his stronghold. The fighting was fierce. Men littered the battlements, arrows flew overhead, as swords smashed against shields. However the Vlandians found themselves the victors of FLINTOLG and could boast to all others that it was them who stopped Romulus and his Sturgian Army.
However if its one thing many underestimate regrading the abilites and resourcefulness of a Primus is this: "Its better to kill them, then to let them escape! For they will always find away back for you!"
SO as Romulus recovers his fallen army. He allows the Nobles of the other Kingdoms and the EMpire to think He is finished. They would soon understand and see the error of their reasoning.
For Romulus; just like his Father OPTIMUS- was waiting. Carefully placing his pieces in a game much bigger than that in the Lords Hall of Omor or Varcheg.
For as Romulus sat in his chair gazing upon the board in front of him. He asked himself:
"To beat an enemy, one could simply crush them. But to destory them, you allow others to rip pieces off; before you get the chance to finsih the job. It's all a matter of timing, before you have them in CHECKMATE! and when they realise... its already far too late!"
