Throw on a suit and get ready for some adulting!

Salary Man Escape VR is a VR/Flat hybrid, satirical puzzler about making through life as a salary man. If you've ever worked in an office, you'll find something to relate to...

As a puzzle game, Salary Man Escape shows promise. Each puzzle building on a previous mechanic. New mechanics adding new challenges. It works well.

The VR side of things though... The VR side feels very untested. Things such as pausing or restarting the puzzle are not available in VR while they are readily accessible within the flat version of the game.

Overall the VR portion felt unpolished.

Why do I not have in game representation for both hands? This is immersion breaking. It feels like the game or the controller is broken. There's no reason not to provide some model for both hands even if it has no in game use.

The UI was skimped on for the VR side of things. From the start screen issues to the text that scrolls far too fast to read... It again feels like no one jumped into a headset and tried this out. The contrast between the logic of the flat UI and the randomness of the VR UI is disappointing.

VR interactions with the world were odd. Something that was a simple mouse click and drag in the flat version felt like pulling teeth in the VR version. Literally! Pulling/pushing on some of the red blocks felt like whatever value determines friction was temporarily cranked through the roof.

Speaking of the red blocks, it was very odd that I couldn't move them around at will. Their slow fall to the ground even though I had a hold of them was frustrating. I get that free movement could break the puzzle aspect but I think that means the puzzles needed to be better designed or VR shouldn't have been the same puzzles.

The way the red blocks were handled created a disconnect between where your hand was and where the controller was. This was also fairly immersion breaking. It's hard to get into the game when you keep seeing these disconnects between what you're doing and what you're seeing.

I personally enjoyed the audio every day, every day, every day~! But if you're not a Japanophile (weeab) like me, it may get grating to hear the same song on repeat for extended periods of time.

The satire and comedy are great however, this game just feels like the devs didn't get a second pair of eyes on the VR iteration. "Eh, it's good enough. Ship it!" The flat iteration of the game is still quite playable if you enjoy puzzlers however don't get this if you're looking for a proper VR interaction.
