The wait for the Samsung Galaxy S II in the US has been a long one. We have all guessed and guessed on when the device will come to the USA. But alas the wait is over and thanks to Sprint the Samsung Galaxy arrives today as the Samsung Epic 4G Touch. Name changes aside, Samsung have really step out to show the mean business with the Epic 4G Touch. From its massive 4.52" Super AMOLED Plus screen, to the lovely 8MP camera that records at 1080p, plus an additional 2MP front facing camera for video Chat, a 1.2Ghz dual core Eynoxs Processor; Samsung has embarked on a journey to create a device that beats in specs as well as delivers what consumers want. You can check out the full specs here with the unboxing

So what makes the Samsung Epic 4G Touch sooo special? A number of things, Samsung has don't a good job in improve on the least attractive aspects of Android to making the experience all better. We shall be look at all of these, from the camera, additional software, OS integration, but first of lets take a look at TouchWiz 4.0 UX.

TouchWiz 4.0 UX

Dare I say it, TouchWiz UX is the best Android custom overlay from a hardware manufacturer. Yes I said it. Why? its simple, it doesn't break Android down and reform it into something else. What Samsung has achieved here is the art of simple refinement and added an Android overlay that is fast crisp and a true enhancement to the operating system in everyway, from battery management, camera app & settings, to intuitive navigation options on the home screen and even live widgets that update to give you the latest information.

Voice controls

This is a very cool and useful app addition by Samsung on the Epic 4G touch. The Voice control app is powered by Vingo. The voice control works very well with a hands free option, that can be activated by saying the words "Hi Galaxy". Which will activate the voice controls. I must admit it's a great addition to the Samsung Epic 4G and does promote a better hands-free driving experience.
