The Samsung Galaxy Player 4.0 is the smaller PMP made by Samsung in their new line of Galaxy Player. The Galaxy Player 4.0 sports a 4" WVGA Super Clear LCDs (800 x 480), Android 2.3.5 . Runs a 1Ghz processor (hummingbird), its comes with either 8GB or 16GB storage and also expandable via microSD. A front facing VGA camera for video chat, rear 3.2MP camera ( no flash), Bluetooth 3.0 GPS and Wi-Fi 802.11b/g/n enabled. The Galaxy player 4.0 weighs 4.2 ounce and packs a1200 mAh battery. It also feature Allshare(dlna), Samsung DLNA feature, and SoundAlive which creates a 5.1 Surround sound experience with two 1.3W stereo speakers
Design wise it looks like a Galaxy S device, and resembles a smartphone in the same vein the iPod touch resembles the iPhone. Its got nice chrome finish around the edges and the microSD card bay is accessible by removing the back cover, which allows you to swap out the battery for a longer lasting one.
The Galaxy Player 4.0 does well a fantastic job with its native music player app, allowing you to direct the course of your music play with ease and also give you to access to music controls even when the player screen is locked via a drop down menu. The Native video player is decent and allows you to play Divx HD and Xvid video files and a number of other codecs. Its best to download a player from the market place like Mobo with its corresponding codecs that allow you to view more video content of the galaxy player 4.0. The two stereo speakers for the Galaxy player 4.0 give decent sound but do tend to crackle at higher volumes and its best to use your headphones for the player.
The galaxy Player 4.0 does a good job all around at what its supposed to be, that is a PMP. You get good audio quality of your headphone , can watch your movies and and got full access to Android app store. There are some things on the player that just doesn't work well, like GPS, which is useless with out a wifi connect and doesn't help you on the road. Still the galaxy Player is a solid PMP to get.
