My point of reference is as follows,

I had a S22 Ultra in 2022, bought an iPhone 14 Pro Max and was blown away by how smooth the "as good as optical" zoom was, especially because, unlike the S22 Ultra and S23 Ultra (though I think that may have been patched on the 23 at some point), the iPhone could switch lenses at 4K60 (on the S22 Ultra, that was only possible at 4K30).

Now, well, I still feel like this could use improvement (because Apple could do it so much better TWO GENERATIONS AGO.. and other Android phones could do better longer ago than that), but the fact that a Samsung phone can now do this at all, that's a big leap in the right direction.

Now, please excuse me, I need to recover from spending a whole industrial mechanic's weekly paycheck on the absolutely tricked out version of this phone (in purple, that's a nice color). Coulda got it through my carrier, but I wanted it unlocked just in case T-Mobile gives me ANY reason at all to dislike them.
