왕푸

멸망한 왕국의 부활을 지향하는 청제국의 무장. 수많은 무용담을 남겼으며, 그의 조국에서 그 이름을 모르는 자는 없다. 원대한 목표를 위하여 자신의 오른팔이 될 자를 찾고 있다. 그의 완력을 우습게 봐서는 안된다. 그의 공격은 땅을 울리고 하늘을 떨어뜨린다.

사무라이 스피리츠 시리즈의 등장인물. 1, 2편, 사무라이 스피리츠 천하제일검객전, 사무라이 스피리츠 섬, SAMURAI SHODOWN에 등장했다.

중국 청조의 무장으로 본편에선 스토리에 큰 연관은 없었으나, 무사도열전에선 조국을 구할 동지를 모으는 중 주인공 일행을 주목하게 된다.(이때 왕푸와 손을 잡으면 전용 엔딩도 볼 수 있다). 단, 갈포드의 경우에는 왕푸를 따라갔을때의 상황을 상상한 내용이기 때문에 "대륙의 평화… 나쁘진 않지만 나에겐 사명이 있어. 미안하지만 같이 갈 수 없다." 라고 말하며 거절한다. 과연 아메리칸 저스티스 닌자, 갈포드.

등장하는 작품마다 무기가 달라지는데 1편에서는 언월도, 2편에서는 돌기둥, 천하제일검객전에서는 거대한 철추를 들고 나온다. 그리고 섬에서는 다시 언월도로 복귀. 그리고 의외로 이 게임 최대 파워 캐릭터로 자기보다 더 거대한 어스퀘이크보다 공격력이 더 강하다. 특히 후반부로 갈 수록 CPU들의 공격력이 높아지는 1에서는 만피 상태에서 기본잡기 한 방에 절명이 나기도 했으며 게임 센터 주인이 일부러 CPU 공격력을 올려놓은 경우에는 강베기 한 대 맞고 사망하는 경우도 허다했다.

캐릭터 성능 중 단점이 기공 폭천법(気功爆天法), 진 기공 폭천법을 쓰면 "뒈야~!"라는 우렁찬 외침과 함께 공중으로 날아올라 무기를 날려서 공격하는데, 당연히 왕푸의 무기는 땅에 떨어지게 된다... 이 게임의 특징상 무기없음 = 불리함이기 때문에 항상 불리할 상황을 안고 살고 있다. 심지어 무기파괴 필살기 진 기공 대폭천, 극 기공 대폭천, 초 기공선풍대박살조차 자신의 무기를 집어던져서 쓴다.

때문에 정신줄 놓은 기술로 치부되고 있었지만 천하제일검객전에서는 무기가 없는 상태에서만 사용할 수 있는 커맨드잡기 기공육탄포가 추가돼서 일부러 무기를 놓고 덤비는 짓도 해봄직하다. 참고로 기공육탄포도 무기던지듯 상대를 들고 높이 솟아올라 내던져버린다. 물론 기공 대천법의 투척궤도와 방향을 조절하여 상대방의 정,역가드를 혼란시키는 게 가능한지라 능숙해지면 대단히 무서운 기술이 된다.

이 외에도 자신의 돌기둥에 박치기를 해서 HP가 깎이는 대신에 분노게이지가 가득차는 분발이라는 무시무시한 기술도 있다.

참고로 무기가 자주 바뀌는 이유는 개발자 인터뷰에서 밝히기를 "진정한 남자는 무기에 구애받지 않는다"라고. 오오오...

진짜 여담으로 보라 나코루루의 엔딩에선 보라 나코루루가 샤를로트와 서로에 대해 훈훈한 대화를 하고 있는 도중 갑자기 난입해 "내 신부가 되라!"며 뗑깡 부리지만 빡친 두 여자에 의해 저 하늘의 별이 된다.

최신작인 SAMURAI SHODOWN에서 2019년 12월 시즌 1의 마지막 DLC 캐릭터로 나온다는 것이 결정되었다. 여기서는 2편에서 사용했던 돌기둥 버전으로 참전한다. 여전히 필살기나 무기날리기를 사용시 자신의 무기를 내다 던지고 있다. 엔딩에선 왕에게 하사 받은 돌기둥이 반으로 갈라져 걱정하게 된다. 아무래도 이때부터 조악하게 만들어진 돌기둥이나 다른 무기들을 쓰게 된 것으로 보인다. 라이벌전에서는 같은 중국 출신 캐릭터인 우루이샹과 만난다.


Wan-Fu

Wan-Fu (Hánzi: 王虎; Pinyin: Wánghǔ; Cantonese: Wong Fu; Japanese: ワンフー, Wanfū) is a recurring character in the Samurai Shodown franchise who debuted in the original game. He is modeled after Miyoshi Seikai, one of the fabled Ten Heroes of Sanada. A robust and fiery Chinese warrior, he dreams of amassing a powerful army and unifying his homeland.

He was removed from the series' lineup after Samurai Shodown II, but returned in Samurai Shodown VI. He is one of the few characters in the series to have a "joke" ending, breaking the fourth wall and comically exclaiming to the player that "there is no ending to [his] story".

Story

A descendant of a noble family, Wan-Fu is a general in the service of the Qing emperor. With his cunning battle strategies and a formidable army, he hopes to unify all of China. Hearing news of "powerful warriors" gathering in Japan, he sets out in hopes of recruiting them for his army. Following Amakusa's defeat, he fails to find any warriors that meet his standards. A prophet appears before the furious Wan-Fu and informs him of the existence of the "Seed of Destruction", which in exchange for one's soul, can allow its possessor to rule the world. Determined to find the seed at all costs and fulfill his dream of uniting China, he leaves his homeland again in search of it.

He is still recruiting warriors in the RPG. In the second chapter, he protects Beijing along with his older brother, Wan-Ron (Chinese: 王竜; Pinyin: Wánglóng; Cantonese: Wong Lung; Japanese: ワンロン, Wanron). Together, they are fine warriors, and are loved by the people in the capital. However, demons infiltrate their home and brainwash both brothers to be their slaves. The neglect from their protectors brings famine to the city, and protesting citizens are imprisoned to be eaten by the demons. With the party's help, Wan-Fu breaks free of the mind control, saves his brother, and rescues his people.

In Samurai Shodown Sen, Wan-Fu had returned to his home country. His son contracts a terrible disease that cannot be cured by any of the emperor's doctors. Angered that his country couldn't help his son's plight, he leaves China again in search of a cure.

Personality

Wan-Fu is a man easily moved into action by anger. He is brash and impatient, though he means well in the end. He is an old-fashioned warrior, finding respect for others only through learning their worth in battle.

Fighting Style

A peculiar trait with Wan-Fu is his ever-changing weaponry with every new game appearance. In Samurai Shodown, he wields a traditional dāo, a Chinese saber. In Samurai Shodown II, his weapon of choice is a stone pillar that he apparently ripped-off from a temple. In Samurai Shodown VI, his weapon changes yet again, this time to a chúi (a type of metallic mace). He switches back to his dāo in Samurai Shodown Sen, and once again to the stone pillar in Samurai Shodown (2019).

At the risk of leaving himself unarmed, Wan-Fu can fling his weapon at his opponent, which will explode on impact. While wielding a blunt weapon, he can bash his head against it and become enraged, at the cost of sacrificing a portion of his health. If his opponent touches him during this process, they will take great damage.
