Went down to the San Diego 3-Railers on January 28th, and had a good day operating my usual excursion train. This time around with 4 newly acquired items; Lionel Amtrak Phase IV F40PH, Lionel Amtrak Phase V NPCU, Lionel Summit View Stationsounds Dome, and Atlas O California Zephyr Dome Observation.
I was going to run the trains with my F40PH and NPCU, but found the F40PH was slower than both of the steam engines. While testing the AC-12 I even found a traction tire stretched because the F40PH was creating so much drag, so it’s not going to be used with the consist until it’s more closely speed matched.
Otherwise everything performed well, minus my Santa Fe Northern traction tires failing during early morning testing.
