Scavengers is marketed as a PvEvP Battle Royale with both monsters and players to fight. So if you're just jumping into Early Access and want a quick start guide on how the game works you're in the right place my friend. Today we will cover all the basics you will need to get started in the game with this Scavengers Beginner's Guide Battle Royale.

You enter the field and collect scrap, resources, data, and experience by killing AI mobs and other players. Keep up your stamina by eating rations you find in the world. Avoid cold by standing near fires and hearths, or using consumables that boost warmth.
If you run out of warmth you will slowly freeze which is an instant death. You will encounter the collapsing circle as well as smaller storms that freeze you at a faster rate. If you get caught in a storm, seek shelter to stay alive. You'll see an icon next to your health in the bottom left turn green when you are inside shelter or warming up near a fire.
Weapons come with different ammo types that are collected separately. Scrap is used to craft your Explorer's signature weapon, upgrading your maximum armor shield, additional equipment, and repairing vehicles you find. Sliding downhill allows for fast traversal.
You can collect data from deposits marked on the map or by killing other players. You have the option of depositing this data into an uplink which will guarantee you keep it even if you die. Speaking of death, you will automatically respawn somewhere on the map as long as one player on your team is alive. This allows for teams to split up and stay alive.
As you level up during a match you unlock better upgrades, which includes increasing your maximum armor. Killing monsters and looting needs to be done quickly and efficiently. Elite and boss mobs provide more resources and experience. Otherwise you'll end up with less armor than your opponents in the final fight.
Towards the end of the match a dropship will land with locked doors and a timer will appear on screen. At the end of the timer, anyone who is inside takes off with the ship and escapes. It's an interesting encounter. You can choose to get into the ship early and fight off anyone who comes in after you. You could camp outside and run into the ship in the final seconds for extraction. You can wait out team encounters and try to 3rd party any fights that spark up.
Matches earn you salvage resources and explorer exp. Salvage resources are used in research outside of a match and unlock new talents, weapons, and upgrades. Overall Scavengers provides an interesting take on the Battle Royale genre. PVE encounters spice up the gameplay and add life to the map itself. It's always nice when a dev team does a winter map well and I really like the presentation they've created.
Armor auto regenerating and being craftable with widely available scrap is a nice casual change. Bosses and Elites give players openings to attack other teams in new ways. The survival mechanics of freezing and needing food also means that every player needs to engage with looting and resting if they want to stay alive.
