If this truly is just a ship conducting survey science, then why do they have such cosmic horrors on the ship as their crew? Xenonauts 2 is a high stakes race against an overwhelming alien force to save the world before they can take it, and one of the types of missions that most highlights the disparity between the two factions is what happens after you shoot down a UFO. No, don't mind the locals (or tourists) running around with guns, the goal today is to get in and get out with a boatload of alien tech. Unfortunately, it turns out we are going to need to turn some nasties into paste on the forest floor.
