The Scrapper from Horizon Zero Dawn explained

Scrappers; the smallest Acquisition class machines. Resembling a Hyena in appearace and size; standing on four legs, they are very agile and can run at fast speeds. and possess a cutting maw, with 3 circular grinders. They also feature a radar-scanner on their dorsal side, and an energy weapon for offensive capabilities.

They will normally be found in small packs and Their primary function is the gathering and recycling of resources. They will seek out destroyed machines and use their cutters to strip the materials off of these downed machines, to then be brought back to the couldrens to be turned into other machines.

Initially docile and posing no threat to Humans, but with the increase in Human Hunters targeting the machines for resources, The A.I known as Hephaestus altered their programming, to turn them hostile towards Humans instead. Where they will attack them on sight, Hunters or not.

They will attack with their cutting mouth, sharp claws on their front paws, and from longer-range with a projectile energy weapon, making them a dangerous machine to less-experienced Hunters, even more so if a whole pack of them is encountered.

They can be defeated by using tear arrows to remove their radar, and targeting their power cell with shock arrows will cause a huge electrically-charged explosion, damaging and shocking anything else around it.
