Striders are a small Acquisition class machine; resembling a horse in appearance, size and behaviour.
Primarily designed to assist sub-function DEMETER to re-seed the planet, manipulating the earth to help the growth of plant life after the Faro Plague extinguished all life on Earth. Their later purpose was to consume plant life and convert it into Blaze.
They will usually graze together in herds for safety; usually accompanied by an escort of Recon or Combat-class machines.

Lightly Armoured and Protected by a Hard outer casing to protect their synthetic muscle and operational systems; they are one of the weaker machines, but even a weak machine can kill a hunter, if they are careless.
They are skittish in behaviour and will usually flee from danger, but at times will stand their ground, and will attack humans by charging at them and kicking and stomping them.

Their weakness is the blaze canister on their back, which if attacked will deal increased damage, if shot with a fire-arrow, it will detonate causing damage to anything nearby.
If over-ridden, they can be mounted and ridden to traverse the environment faster than on foot, as Aloy was able to do with the over-ride component taken from a downed Corruptor.
