Xenomorph Drone - Explained (Alien Lore)
Xenomorph Drone - Explained (Alien) The Drone type Xenomorph explained.
Xenomorph Drones are the result of a FaceHugger impregnating a Human; this strain acts as a worker for the alien hive, mainly moving eggs around to help space them out from one another, and also capturing other lifeforms and bringing them back to the hive to be used as hosts to produce more xenomorph offspring. Chestbursters that are born from a Human host tend to turn into Drones when their numbers are low in order to grow the hive as quickly as possible, and then once established, Human born ChestBursters will tend to instead grow into Warriors for defense. A Drone can be identified as primarily being bi-pedal in posture and they will have the smooth translucent dome atop of their head, rather than the ridged head that the similar looking Warriors posess.
Xenomorph Drones stand over 7 feet tall, with 6 digits on each hand and have a black shiny carapace.
For weaponry, they have the trademark Xenomorph inner jaw and a bladed tail, as well as the acidic blood for defence. They are very strong and can easily overpower a human and carry them away, even vertically or through vents.
They are highly intelligent, seemingly more-so than their Warrior counterparts; acting independently, rather than being reliant on the commands of a Queen like the Warriors; and even able to function in absence of a queen. They will remain hidden and stalk their prey, being very patient and taking their time, waiting for the perfect moment to strike!
When threatened, however, they will just as soon, outright kill their prey rather than harvest them, unless of course the enemy is carrying a queen chestburster inside them, in which case the Drone will leave them alone as to not risk the safety of the future Queen Alien.
The Drones are one of the most common Alien types included in both the movies and expanded universe such as the comic-books and games.
One Alien Drone was encountered by the crew of the Nostromo Towing vessel, after Kane was attacked and successfully impregnated by a FaceHugger inside the derelict spacecraft, despite his protective space helmet. And emerged after he’d been brought back on-board. This Drone then proceeded to stalk and kill the remaining crew members, except for Flight Officer- Lieutenant Ellen Ripley, who managed to out-wit the creature, blasting it out into space, and then incinerating it with the escape-vessels engine thrust.
Thoughts
So I am a really big fan of the Drone Xenomorphs, I think they look really cool with the clear dome on their heads, which is my favourite design for them. Some of my favourite designs for Drones are the one from the first movie, the ones from AVP and the one from Alien Isolation. I personally prefer the Xenomorphs that walk upright on two legs, rather than crawling around on all fours as I think this makes the creature design more unique and sets them apart from other animalistic Sci-Fi creatures. But what do you think about the Xenomorph Drones? Let me know in the comments section. And before you go, don’t forget to leave a like and subscribe to the channel if you want to.
