Scribblenauts Unlimited - First Play - Experiment
12021-12-31. Playing through the tutorial.
Pros:
It's Scribblenauts.
Cons:
The game is very complicated. The tutorial goes through a series of complicated maneuvers and actions you need to perform to do the simplest things that were available trivially in the original game.
For some reason actions are convoluted in this game.
It's unclear what you have to do next.
The stages you've completed stay on-screen for you to re-play, with the star visible as though you should pick it up.
The tutorial falls flat in that it doesn't explain mouse click and hold and move is what is required, instead only showing a click.
It also falls flat that it doesn't explain where on-screen the actions must take place. You have to notice the little circle, and the game is effectively pause until you comply.
It forces you to go through actions you don't need to do, several times, and will not move forward without this.
All of these complexities are not required in the game, and even if they were, they could be taught one at a time as you progress.
Solving puzzles is also a mess, where you sometimes solve it with an object given to yourself, and sometimes given to another person -- it's random and erratic which actually works.
