Secret of Mana 2 [SNES] - Journey #344 (2/2)
0Seiken Densetsu 3 (known as Secret of Mana 2 in most fan circles) was never released outside of Japan, and is the sequel to the mighty popular Seiken Densestu 2 (released as Secret of Mana in the rest of the world). The game's story builds on the same universe as the previous games, but the characters and events are brand new. This time around, you get to chose your party of 3 heroes from a roster of 6, and depending on which characters you chose you get to experience different stories. The combat is also improved somewhat from the previous game, and the leveling and character improvement has been more interactive.
I am a huge fan of this game, and I have played through it several times before with multiple character rosters. Personally, I think this game is a true master piece. It is not without flaws though, and some of them are even worse than than the previous games: the magic system. The entire game freezes while a spell is being cast, and there is no way for you to interact or dodge with them. It is like the high pace combat just stops suddenly for a few seconds, and it is really unfortunate. But I still love the way they tell a story, and the writing is amazing, so this game holds a place in my heart forever.
