Sherin Mathews is a Senior Data Scientist within the Office of the CTO for McAfee. In this role, she creates and develops new machine learning models to improve and increase the effectiveness of cybersecurity products. Mathews is a repeated and requested industry speaker on her research papers in areas of machine learning, computer vision, artificial intelligence, and cybersecurity.
Abstract: IOT in security & privacy, challenges and risks explained
The Internet of Things intends to bring everything from microwaves to shipping fleets online, leveraging humongous amounts of new data, thereby making our world smarter, effortless, and competent. Considering the prediction that 50 billion new devices will add on in the next 5 years, security will become the numero uno challenge to make the Internet of Things a reality. As we become increasingly dependent on smart, interconnected IOT devices in every aspect of our lives, how do we protect these devices from intrusions which could possibly endanger personal privacy or imperil public safety? This session examines security challenges and constraints posed by connected devices, and provides an approach to address them.
