Seicross (NES)
11Seicross is a side-scrolling action game ported to the Famicom and NES from the 1984 arcade game developed by Nichibutsu. The Japanese title is Sector Zone. The game is set on the planet Colura, where the peaceful Petras tribe has been forced to hide underground after being attacked by the aggressive Basrah tribe. To rescue the Petras survivors left on the surface, the player controls the rescue bike Gilgitt Petras, moving forward while avoiding enemies and obstacles.
Gameplay combines shooting and racing elements. The player moves the bike left and right, using a forward-firing weapon to eliminate enemies or, at times, pushing them aside by ramming into them. Along the way, you must secure energy and fuel while rescuing Petras survivors along the roadside to earn points. Each stage introduces more complex enemy and obstacle patterns, steadily increasing the difficulty, requiring quick reflexes and strategic movement.
Like many arcade games of the era, Seicross has a looping structure. After clearing several sections, the stages repeat with increased difficulty. While the graphics and sound are simple, the sense of speed and tension keeps it memorable for retro game fans even today. The NES and Famicom ports faithfully reproduce the features of the arcade version, offering simple yet addictive gameplay.
