First of all, allow me to explain something. When I started this playthrough, I wasn't sure whether I should add random battles or not. In the end, I decided that I'd upload the relevant or otherwise fun/interesting random battles. I explained that already twice in five videos. And that means that everytime I start any random battle, I start recording. If the battle ends up uninteresting, I just cancel the recording at the end. It works.

This particular battle is interesting for one reason. There is some sort of glitchy reaction to Beat Down, which I first found out in this video. It happens at 2:16. When my squire used Beat Down with his crossbow, it pushed the Red Panther TWO cells back, on a panel that you cannot normally step on! Even weirder : the Bolt 2 that I previously casted on the GROUND still hit it despite it being far from the actual AoE. As I found out shortly afterwards, its corpse was indeed on the unwalkable panel, not only graphically, but physically (it's only when moving the cursor to that panel that its info appeared). Figure that one out...

At first, I didn't know what caused the glitch, but I assumed it was related to Beat Down. But what if it was related to the Red Panther?

Anyway, I had the same issue trigger in my story battle of Dorter Trade City a little bit later, which not only sent a wizard two cells back, but also OUT OF THE MAP, and the game hanged. I got the recording, and it's pretty amusing to watch. But I figured that it was better than I don't use Beat Down anymore. Since the game hanged, I had to make a new recording. I am still debating whether to upload the glitched one or not, before uploading the actual battle that I won, but whatever.

I know I'm still not at Dorter as per this video, but I decided that now was the time to explain all this. After the incident at Dorter, I asked Archael directly about it to hear if he knew about the glitch or anything. From what I understood, the skill doesn't glitch (even with a crossbow) in regular FFT 1.3, and that the skill is not working as intended in Easytype because Philsov made a mistake when converting the stuff into the Easytype version.

The skill is supposed to have the same effect as Hurricane (damage = 34% of the enemy's max HP), except to a single target instead of it being an AoE. Philsov accidentally made it do PA * 1...18 damage (where the damage is a random number from 1 to 18, multiplied by the PA of the unit using the skill), which definitely explains the random damage I have obtained in my previous videos.

Now, it is easy to assume that if the formula that was used for the skill was not the right one, glitches like this could happen. So that is why I decided to completely stop using Beat Down after my Dorter Trade City incident. Therefore, the winning battle I will show for Dorter does not use the skill, nor will any video afterwards.

As for this battle... well, it initially was just to gain JP to unlock more abilities/classes. So after the glitch, it's mostly just me using non-lethal abilities and keeping a monster alive for a while. So that's not really interesting.
