Description:
A millennium ago, the Ancients summoned the Armies of Darkness to ravage the word, but the Goddess and her heroes defeated them and sealed them away. Three months ago, the demons got unsealed anyways and killed many people in Keld Village. Two of the residents, Selena and Shirley, plan on going into the Ruins of Elendia to do something about the demons, but it's possible for one of them to get corrupted along the way.

The game has a soul corruption system, but both protagonists are silent. Additionally, it's clear that both of them experienced great loss due to the demons. I feel like for this type of game, it would have been better to give them proper dialogue.

The game will indicate if you're near an examinable object.
You can pick up items from certain tiles, but they don't respawn and the game has no currency system, so you need to be careful about resource management.
21:44 Guild Master's Test
In this tutorial battle, you have to learn about the mechanics of different weapons. One-handed weapons can be used with shields to play more defensively, but aren't as strong as two-handed weapons. Axes can be used to break guarding states on the enemy.

Return home to add Shirley to the party. Note that her MP doesn't grow naturally.

Note that enemies respawn upon reentering a map and can sometimes drop useful items. Orcs are a good source of ropes at this stage.
Be sure to get the Call Spirit spell from the right side building, since that will allow you to summon guest allies and ask ghosts for tips.

I remembered I had to heal him. He'll upgrade the axe, but I don't know if he upgrades other weapons.

I still need to get the combination for the lock. To do this, I had to use Call Spirit to get info from one of the ghosts. It's also possible to get EXP from some ghosts.

With the combination, I entered the storage room and got the key for the bridge.
42:21 First Campsite
After crossing the bridge, the party finds the first campsite, where they can cook and rest. Selena is automatically chosen for night watch. While sleeping, Shirley finds herself in the Dark Sanctuary, which beckons her to corrupt her soul in exchange for perks. This seems to be the only way to permanently increase max MP.
46:13 Ancient Temple of Elendia
This place has new enemies. Be sure to loot the southern library to get a key. Afterwards, head for the left stairs to get Phantom Shield. This will help in crossing the spike path in the right stair hallway, though if your timing is good, you can cross without taking damage.
On the other side is a campsite. Note that you can now choose who keeps watch. However, there's a chance an enemy will attack, though your chosen party member will be fully healed before the fight.
Grab the Pain spell and cell key from the room south of the campsite.
57:32 Mimic
The golden chest is actually a mimic capable of changing whether it's vulnerable to physical or magic damage. The ghost attacks count as magic in case you forgot to get Pain. You get Tome of Greater Restore, which is equippable and has a skill tied to it. However, it prevents Shirley from using her normal attack.
59:59 Ancient Temple of Elendia P2
The ghost enemies can only be damaged by magic, but they also drop Soul Essences, which can restore MP. I recommend farming these to make it easier to win battles of attrition.
1:05:25 Boss: Abomination of Agony
This thing is made from several unfortunate victims of human experimentation and can summon their ghost, granting them immunity to damage until you kill the ghost, but killing the ghost buffs the boss. However, they can also summon non-ghost minions, so you'll need to use the spear to deal effective AOE damage to them. IMO, it can get really nasty if the boss if buffed and has all their possible minions summoned.

At the time, I had no idea how the DS or DA works, but DA doesn't equal corruption, rather, it's a prerequisite to corruption perks.
