Semi Invincibility from Side Fighters in 1943 (NES) - A Wild Glitch Appears! #shorts
In 1943: The Battle of Midway on the NES, there is a way to essentially become semi-invincible by abusing a glitch to underflow the hit points of the side fighters.
In Mission 4 and Mission 13 you can acquire a powerup that calls two additional fighter planes to fight by your side. Not only do these side fighters increase your firepower, but they can also act as a shield to absorb three hits for you. After taking three hits, they will explode and you will not longer be accompanied by these additional fighters.
However, if these side fighters take their third and final hit just as the screen transitions into the boss area, the side fighters will follow you into the next section of the level, and their HP values will underflow to 127 or 255. Note that this trick cannot be performed on levels where there is no transition into a boss area.
Anyway, when your side fighters have way more HP than they're supposed to have, the game becomes a little easier.
