Two Tricks for Early Varia Suit in Metroid (NES) - A Wild Glitch Appears! #shorts
17,076In Metroid for the NES, Samus is normally not supposed to acquire the Varia Suit without first obtaining the High Jump Boots. But in this short video, I will demonstrate two methods for obtaining the Varia Suit without using the High Jump. It's like sequence breaking!
The first and more reliable method is to lure an enemy into the area where you enter the door to the Varia Suit chamber. The Varia Suit can be found in a secret area above a short hallway at the top of Brinstar. Inside this short hallway is an enemy called a Waver. It is possible to break open the ceiling in the short hallway and lure the Waver up into the upper area of the room by freezing him with the Ice Beam at opportune moments. If you're able to lure the Waver into the upper section of the room, you can simply freeze him and hop onto him like a platform, then jump up to the doorway.
Note: Entering the short hallway from the right, then RE-ENTERING the short hallway from the left is a reliable method for positioning the Waver in such a way that it will fly straight up the breakable section of ceiling if you move quickly.
The second method is to simply do a maximum-height bomb jump in the upper area of the short hallway room. The idea is to place a bomb ad such a height that Samus can stand into it and be bounced upward. Then, Samus can simply perform a mid-air jump and reach the doorway. Note that as long as Samus appears to be in her standing sprite, she can jump in mid-air.
