Walk Through Solid Blocks in The Legend of Zelda (NES) - A Wild Glitch Appears! #shorts
In The Legend of Zelda for the NES, there's a super easy technique you can use to pass over solid obstacles, and it's very handy for a speedrun. Most speedrunners simply call it block clipping, but I say we call it "The Block Walk" or something catchier.
To perform this technique, you have to start by placing Link on the right spot. For example, if you're going to pass through one of those square blocks in a dungeon (the ones I always through looked like pieces of chocolate when I was younger) a reliable method is to slowly approach the block from below until the top of Link's hat lines up with the bottom of the inner square.
Once you're in the right spot - and the spot varies depending on which way you approach the obstacle - you're going to press A to stab your sword, and while you're stabbing, tap the d-pad in a perpendicular direction. So if you're approaching from below, you're going to tap left or right very quickly.
If you did it right, Link will turn 180 degrees, and you should be able to walk right over the otherwise impassable object. This technique will save you some time in Level 5 because you would normally have to defeat a room full of Blue Darknuts before you can push the block allowing you to enter the passage. But nope, you can just skip fighting them using this technique.
Anyway if you're a speedrunner, feel free to call this trick The Block Walk, The Box Trot, or Square Dancing. These names are way catchier than "block clipping," just saying.
