First in a new series, objects in a landscape. A tour. Animation created in Blender.
The audio was composed using a Max for Live patch developed based on a way of working that I have employed since the start of my audio composition career in 1991. This is based on a way of working with tapes and small stereos. It took me 34 years to figure out how to transfer this approach to digital tools (Max for Live, Ableton Live in this case). It was really the smallest, simplest solution but one of the most significant breakthroughs of my entire career to date. Some of the material you hear in the piece is from recordings captured on tape about three decades ago. I am in the process of transferring all of the material from these lowly casette tapes to digital and using the material as I have done here. I have about 750 tapes from the period 1991-1998 (approximately) and I have transferred about a third of them so far to digital (using a Tascam 122mkIII cassette player). I am going to continue until they finished. Some of my best work is on these old tapes and many of them I haven't even listened to yet. Prepare yourself for a cassette tape revival (just as what has happened with vinyl)!
