One of the biggest announcements kicked off the official start of the Game Awards, with Final Fantasy VII's Sephiroth being announced as the latest DLC character for Super Smash Brothers Ultimate. Sephiroth is the 3rd character (of 6) announced for the Fighter Pass 2 and is due for release in Dec. He joins Cloud and Hero as the 3rd Square Enix playable fighter. Sephiroth's stage is based on the Jenova Synthesis fight in the Northern Crater at the end of FF7 and his Final Smash appears to be based on his Safer Sephiroth form. Smash Bros director Masahiro Sakurai will host a deep dive presentation on Sephiroth on 17 Dec, where they will also announce the release date.

In related news, the recently announced amiibo for Banjo and Kazooie, Terry and Byleth will release in Mar 2021.
