Septerra Core Vertical Slice Demo 1997
In early 1997 Septerra Core had found a home at the newly-minted Valkyrie Studios, founded by four of the game's core developers. In order to secure funding from a publisher, they created a "vertical slice" of the game, a demo that would show the basic pillars of gameplay—RPG combat combined with point-and-click adventure. Development on this demo started when the team was still at Viacom New Media, but ended abruptly when that company shut down. The team then lost most of its staff, including their sound and audio engineers, which is why some elements of the dialogue and descriptions don't match the adventure. Newly captured footage shows the Windows 95 era demo running on Windows 10 - apologies for the double mouse capture! Sound and music re-created from original midi files that no longer want to play nice.
