Serious Sam Fusion: Towards The Sirian Gate - 04 No Place to Hide (Serious 100%)
Another really awesome level featuring badass fights, weapons, and of course new enemies.
Scrapjacks become a common enemy at this point, and imo aren't anywhere near as dangerous as the standard BFE versions. The main difference is that now they take 4 rockets to kill (instead of 3 plus a pistol shot) and now shoot fast moving twin fireballs instead of rockets.
Their attacks are much easier to dodge now as both fireballs are aimed more directly at the player instead of one being aimed at you and the other being shot off at a 45 degree angle. The standard attack can be easily dodged by just sidestepping, and their alternate attack has been severely nerfed since it's spammed less frequently and the fireballs explode on contact with the ground instead of bouncing & rolling before exploding like the grenades.
Technopolips also make their appearance in this level, though I feel like they're much better opponents to fight now. Like the Arachnoids, their hitscan attack has been altered to fire physical bullets that will attempt to predict your movement, which makes fighting them out in the open much less frustrating since you can outmaneuver them. Their Fusion "rocket barrage" attack is also used much more frequently, and they now also have a tweaked version of SS4's homing rocket attack.
This new attack I feel is the only unfun one to fight since unlike in SS4, you can't simply sidestep the missiles, and either have to commit to shooting down the rockets or sprinting out of the way to avoid taking damage. All things considered though, I strongly like how the Technopolip has been reworked, and I think it's now a much more interesting and dangerous opponent to face while remaining fair.
Final thing to talk about is the new weapon. If you do some secret hunting, you can find an optional combat encounter which gives you early access to TTSG's brand new "Eraser" gun. Don't ask me how it works, because I genuinely don't know, but what I do know is it involves some heavy scripting magic I can't even begin to comprehend.
Like the Crossbow from SM, it's essentially a Railgun that fulfills the role of and replaces the Devastator & Sniper Rifle. However, unlike the Crossbow which still succumbs to the stupid Fusion Projectile Bug even though it's technically hitscan, the Eraser is 100% hitscan and can NEVER be affected by that bug.
Imo I think the balancing for it is somehow even better than the Crossbow. While it can pierce smaller enemies like Kleers, Spiders, & Gnaars, it cannot effectively pierce larger enemies such as Werebulls, which actually gives the Cannon back part of its role on the battlefield. This of course is also helped by the fact Fusion does not have SS4/SM's broken ass dual wielding or headshot abilities.
Thanks again for watching and as always, stay Serious!
