Game Review & Impressions
---------------------------------------------------
Not the first time I've covered the game on the channel, I figured it was worth recording a higher quality video of the sequel to Shinobi, given it was certainly one of Sega's most iconic coin-ops of the late 1980s.
On reflection, I don't think Shadow Dancer has aged particularly well, and I'm not convinced it was all that great when it first came out. The gameplay is practically identical to its predecessor, and the addition of a canine companion who can harass bad guys temporarily really doesn't make it any more exciting.
The graphics might look better, but I just found this to be repetitive and dull, made worse by some irritating boss fights. The bonus stage involving throwing gravity-defying shuriken at ninjas descending a building is quite cool, but that's about all the enthusiasm I can muster.
