Shadowkeep Is Live - Destiny 2: Shadowkeep - Ep. 1 - Feels Like A Whole New Game
2Welcome to Mythkiller Productions! As always I will be your host, SiriMythkiller, as I started my journey in Destiny 2: Shadowkeep! I have really high hopes for this expansion and the subsequent seasons. To start, I’ll talk a bit about all the new updates implemented. Some affect all players, others affect only those that purchased Shadowkeep.
Crucible has been completely restructured. Each match type has its own playlist now plus new types and maps have been added (Bungie, I’m still waiting for Rift to return!). There are several other updates to Glory ranks and Win Streaks that might, MIGHT make Crucible less frustrating for those (like me) who are not fond of Player-versus-Player.
More importantly, all Year 1 and 2 gear has been raised to 750 power. Yes, EVERYTHING! Everything in your inventory, in your vault, and possibly everything in the Postmaster (not sure, I didn’t have anything waiting). This was an excellent choice made by Bungie since the last few seasons have not done well. Now, players can jump right in to the new campaign without spending days or weeks grinding up to the necessary Power level.
Armor 2.0 has been implemented. Now, armor has 6 stats: Mobility, Resilience, and Recovery from Destiny 2 and Discipline, Intellect, and Strength from Destiny 1. The latter three adjust recharge rates for grenades, Super ability, and melee ability respectively. As a Destiny 1 player, I am SO very glad to have these back! There is a handy-dandy reference on the Character screen that explains what each stat does AND shows
EXACTLY how much the player is affected. Another EXCELLENT addition to the game!
Finishers are new abilities that are basically heavy-hitting melee attacks. There is no recharge rate, only a damage threshold that must be met. From what I can tell so far, these are really just kind of a “for funsies” feature but I do approve. It’s SUPER fun to just leap in the air and stab things.
Quests and Bounties have been separated though they are still on the same page in the Directory. The Eververse Store is also now available through the Directory. Lots of cool stuff in there, though the Silver prices seem to have gone up and players did not receive a Gift Of Silver this go around (I’m pretty disappointed by that).
A lot of the vendors now offer Exotic quests for new weapons or older ones that I need to catch up on.
The whole Mod system for weapons and armor has also changed. I don’t fully understand it myself so I’ll leave that to the experts
Overall, I’m super pleased with the changes made thus far! I think the game will play much more like Destiny 1 but will also include all the things I like about Destiny 2. I look forward to starting the Shadowkeep campaign in the next video!
