The only strategy that I can recommend against ShadowMan is to keep your distance as much as you can to be able to react to either his slide or his Shadow Blades. Both are very fast and their timing is slightly different so they will throw you off.
He picks those attacks randomly so there isn't much you can do to predict them. Reflexes are very important.
He will always jump 3 times before attacking though. Less insanity-inducing than QuickMan at least.
To avoid getting cornered and switch sides with him, do so by sliding under him during his second jump. That way you will have room to dodge again if he decides to slide after his third jump.

I don't feel I have much merit for this no-damage battle, since the practice fight in the Legacy Collection is always a repeat of the same thing. So for instance, he would always start with 2 jumps and then the slide and if I did the same "choregraphy" every time, he would always do the same thing. It was still tricky to make it to the end though, but in the real game, it's completely random every time you fight him. So much respect to the people who legit defeat him no-damage buster-only in the actual game. :P
