In this tutorial I show you how to maximize the per crop production of Sugar Cane using Shaky-Sand or Quantum-ticking. This requires the use of a BUD (Block Update Detector) instead of a harvesting clock. The reason for that is that while the Shaky-Sand is producing 36,000 random updates per hour, each of the crops is also getting the normal random ticks from the game, which means that any clock would eventually become off-sync. The BUD makes sure that the harvesting piston only fires when the crop grows. It is up to you if you think the resources required to increase the rates are a worth it, or if you would rather build a few more of the cheaper but less efficent harvesting designs shown in past videos.
