Shapeshifting Guns, An Evil Fridge And 7 Best And Worst Control Features
The Control release date is fast approaching (27th August) and we’ve played the first few hours of Remedy’s latest oddball actioner. In this Control gameplay expect a shapeshifting gun, telekinetic fights, a creepy janitor and a fridge with dark powers. Join Alice as she talks you through weapons, setting, story and weirdness of Control and highlights the 7 best and worst features. Oh, and thanks to Logitech G and the G432 7.1 Surround Sound gaming headset for sponsoring this video. Check out the tech behind the G432 over on the Logitech G site: http://bit.ly/2FkTkbi
Our Control gameplay is taken from the first two hours of the game. Sadly it’s Control PS4 gameplay - we’ve not tested the PC version yet. But we will in our upcoming Control review. This isn’t our Control PC review, just early Control impressions based on the first areas of the game. The meat of Remedy’s new action thriller unravel after the moments you see in the video, so you don’t have to worry about major spoilers. If you’ve seen the Control trailer, you know the basic Control story: Jesse Fayden is uncovering the truth behind a childhood traumas, things that led her to this ever changing, ominous building.
In this Control preview Alice looks at everything you need to know: how the combat plays, how that shapeshifting gun really feels, and how fun it is to use telekinesis to lob desks around. Answer: very. Remedy have always been great storytellers, but this time the action is looking a lot more interesting too (not that Max Payne was any slouch in this department). With a relatively weak hero and limited powers you’re forced to work quite hard; throw in some tough checkpointing and relentless enemies and Control combat is pretty fierce.
Control is looking lovely, and playing beautifully, and it really was a stretch to find anything we didn’t like about it. It’s nice moving away from massive open worlds, and instead finding ourselves in just one building, but that building’s not like many others we’ve seen before. There’s a lot of lore in Control that is easily found through collectibles, and it’s going to be interesting to see if Control really delves into mental health issues, or if it’s just something that’s throwaway. Oh, and there’s the Control fridge, which is pretty odd.
From our first few hours of Control gameplay this is shaping into a great third person shooter, and the promise of lot to explore and uncover makes us want to jump back in. We wonder what Control length will be - the Oldest House certainly seem roomier on the inside. As you’ll see from this Control PS4 gameplay the game ran pretty well on a regular PlayStation, which is what we played on, so I can’t say for sure how Control PC gameplay will run, but it’s not long now till the game is released.
I hope you enjoyed this small preview of Control, and hopefully it’s explained some questions you may have had about it. If not, pop them in the comments and I’ll do my best to answer them for you. Control is one of our most anticipated games of 2019 on the channel, so I do hope you’re as excited as we are. This gameplay only showed us a few of Control’s features, but we are keen to play the rest of the game in order to get our tiny little brains around the wider story. If you want to see more on Control, perhaps even a Control Review, then please do subscribe to Rock Paper Shotgun, and do all of that other lovely stuff.
Thanks for watching and hopefully see you again soon.
