Shining Force II (Part 9--Return to Granseal)
1Story: Confronting the Galam Knight, the Jewel of Light is recovered. The Jewel of Light is one of the jewels that Slade had originally taken from the Ancient Shrine in the prologue of the game. The Jewel of Evil is with King Galam. Speaking with some of the townsfolk inside the castle, Dai learns that Galam's strange aggression toward pacifist countries like Granseal has passed onto his people, as well as the idea that grammar and spelling are unnecessary ("suffured" and "Granseals"). Generally a good guy, Slade joins the Force to help get the Jewel of Evil back. At the castle gate, a soldier advises Dai not to leave town, but he does anyway. Galam's soldiers attack! ...And Dai has deja vu because he didn't remember where the next savestate was.

Starting out, he's kind of pathetic. Especially in this fight, he gets knocked out in two rounds, from the knights at least. Fortunately, I know from previous runs of this game that with a little nurturing, the amount of help he provides is well worth the effort. :3
Battle 6: Even MOAR Galam Soldiers.
Strategy: Keep mages -- and Slade -- behind a wall of capable melees (Chester, Dai, Jaha) when going up against knights, as they have doubled range with spears.
Goal: Get Slade to the top of the roster with levels... and not let him die because he is a feeble little rat right now.
I suppose now is a good enough time as ever to mention that I won't be redoing fights. I saw another LP of this game where they did some extraneous grinding of their characters before going to the next battle; I won't be doing that. Every battle will be fought once and only once, except in the end of failure or Egressing in the event of checkmate. I mean, there's no use for anyone to watch this if it's not going to be interesting, right? :3
