Shockwave was a steel looping coaster that formerly operated at Six Flags Great America in Gurnee, Illinois, designed by Ron Toomer and manufactured by Arrow Dynamics. This colossal coaster stood 170 feet (52 m) tall and reached speeds of up to 65 miles per hour (105 km/h), originally opening as the world's tallest and fastest looping roller coaster with a record-breaking seven inversions: three vertical loops, a boomerang (also known as a batwing), and two regular corkscrews. Shockwave cost $6,000,000 USD to build in 1988, and was closed/dismantled in 2002 (due to low ridership and high maintenance costs), then replaced in 2003 by Superman: Ultimate Flight. Enjoy!
