Here is the offense and defense for Mar Geri #2 from the Kihon Ippon series in Shotokan Karate. The offense side steps back into position and then proceeds with a front snap kick to the opponent’s mid-section, kicking with the ball of the foot.

The defense side does a downward block, blocking with the arm opposite of the opponent’s leg (you will use your right arm to block their right leg, as an example), followed by a punch to the face with the non blocking arm and then a reverse punch to the rib region.
