In this video, we test out the TTX technology Champion wired controller designed for the PlayStation 4.

While we definitely focus on retro video game systems here, I still have a passion and enjoy playing my Playstation 4. I have lost countless hours, turned many laps, and defeated many enemies on this system. One of the things that I've always been a little bit disappointed in is the expense when it comes to extra DualShock 4 controllers. This is where TTX Technology comes in with their Champion USB wired controller. designed to be a budget-friendly accessory for your PlayStation 4, it definitely has a lot of promise.

Available in four different colors, black, red, blue, and the white that you see here. I must admit, I think the red one is sexy as hell. The Champion looks and feels like a tuned-up DualShock 4 controller. And by that I mean they've added some texturing to the grips that really makes it comfortable to hold. it's non-slip so for those of you who are, shall we say, sweaty, you will not have any issues hanging on to the controller. The Champion features a 7 ft long cable, 2m, which is a little bit short for my application. This was easily solved however with a USB extension cable.

While the Champion definitely looks and feels the part of a DualShock controller, there are two components missing from it. First is the integrated speaker. While some people may not miss it, it is something in some games that makes a noticeable difference. for example, in NASCAR heat, your spotter comes through the controller speaker. In Spider-Man, you get updates from J. Jonah Jameson through the speaker in the controller. Now you can go into the settings on the game and change to have those audio cues come out of the TV or soundbar, but it is a difference that you should be aware of. Similarly, the headphone jack is also not included, meaning you cannot use this with wired headsets.

One of the things I absolutely love about this controller has to be the triggers, they are awesome for racing games. They feel like they have a little bit more travel than the DualShock 4 controller, and the springs feel slightly firmer. this helps in games where wheelspin could be an issue, it helps control your throttle and make you a little bit less punchy on the gas. At least it does for me.

Why it RoX:
- budget-priced
- available in four different colors
- the triggers are awesome
- decent build quality
- responsive
- great ergonomics

What could be improved?
- USB cable is short for my taste
- rumble could be a little bit more pronounced
- no speaker or headphone jack
- touchpad did not function as start and select on PS2 games

Should you buy one?
With my gaming setup, the Champion is not an ideal solution. I have three dogs. They are jerks. They bark at anything. so having a cord strewn across my living room for them to trip over and dragged my PlayStation 4 to the ground, less-than-ideal. but, if you are in the market for a wired PS4 controller, this is pretty damn good. The button presses were responsive, the d-pad feels good, and again I love the triggers. I felt like the right analog stick hey I had some flashing or something like that which was dragging on the inside of the controller shell. The left stick felt fine. If I were to use this more regularly I would probably open it up and see if I could smooth out the action, but honestly, it's something I'm just not going to use very much personal. But for the money, the Champion provides some extremely nice features at a very budget-friendly cost.
