Shovel Knight was released for Windows, the Nintendo 3DS and Wii U on June 26 2014. Its soundtrack, designed to be playable by a NES chipset, was composed by Jake Kaufman (with guest appearances from Manami Matsumae, none used here).

I can't overstate how impossible this is. By my reckoning, 6 parts here might be playable live, but the rest are certainly not and you'll see why. These videos were unmistakably taken after finishing the audio, and should serve less as exact representations of each part, and more as a guide of which instrument is doing the thing that you're hearing at the time.

In case you can't tell, that thunder rumble is made by shaking a piece of fibreboard next to a mic.

4 themes were used to make this: One Fateful Knight, Strike the Earth, the Rival, and For Shovelry!

I'm estimating ~4000 takes were used to create the audio, and together with arranging, editing, and video editing, about 150 hours were put into this project, all but arranging done over the last two weeks. Thinking about starting a Patreon to account for that time investment.
