This glitch is most likely exclusive to the PC Port. When this glitch happens, you can't finish The Mines (Level 9) and you'll have to restart the level. I found this glitch today which was the first time I reach Level 9 in this game and it happened to me twice. I got no idea why this happened, I think had some to do with hitting a certain obstacle during the Hero Time Section, but I do know the PC Port feels really buggy and unfinished to the console version. Like Sonic Heroes' PC Port levels of buggy and unfinished.

For example: This Port has bad audio mixing with the sound effects being lower than the Music and Voices even when it's at max, the graphics disappeared on me during the second chase sequence in Level 7, and in Level 8, one of the A.I in the Team kept screwing me over by falling below the floor and I was no where near a Death Pit.

This port isn't that terrible, it's a fine port, but it's not as good as the console versions.

For me personally, I suggest you get the GameCube version.
