SideLine Original Soundtrack (AdLib & General MIDI)
11SideLine is a DOS Shmup from 1996 created by EMAG (Electronic Music & Animated Graphics), a shortlived Taiwanese game developer comprised of college students at National Chiao Tung University, with a goal to create high quality games, but it didn't go so well due to financial problems. Only two more games were made by them, those being the lightgun games A.D Cop (Virtua Cop clone made on a modified idtech 1) and Bon Bon Paradise (Point Blank clone).
The game was thought to be lost for a long time, but in 2013, the co-founder Jimmy Hwang allowed the game to be released as freeware, as long as there is no profit made on it. Unfortunately, nobody seems to know about this game outside of BareKnuckleRoo.
The game has a CD Quality music used for stages only (boss themes and jingles still play as MIDI files), but I don't know how to rip those out of the .bin file. However, I was able to extract the .xmi (EMIDI) files and then record those with AdLib and General MIDI.
Almost all songs are split into two files, the beginning and the looping part, but some of them have weird quirks/issues. For example, at the end of the non-looping part of Stage 3 music, there is about 2 seconds of long noise, around 30 seconds of Stage 6 is a very loud Synth Bass 1 on the second channel (I had to use OpenMPT so it doesn't blow your ears out) and the first boss theme on both parts has a bit of a pause when they end, instead of being seamless.
