King's Quest V: Absence Makes the Heart Go Yonder! is the critically acclaimed 5th game in the venerable point & click adventure franchise, developed and published by Sierra On-Line in 1990. It was the first King's Quest game to be released in VGA on teh SCI1 engine, and also the only King's Quest game to receive a NES port. It revolutionized the Sierra Point 'n Click adventure game genre by introducing the verb bar interface, which would replace the long-running text parser.
The NPCs are playing King's Quest V with Roland MT-32 audio.
Sierra Saturday is a weekly series on the Level 0 NPCs channel, where Matt & Luke relive their childhoods playing classic adventure games of the '80s and '90s (and beyond?). Sierra adventure games were a special breed of dark humor, brutally unfair puzzles and unforgettable characters, and we hope you enjoy this walk down memory lane with us.
