John Romero released SIGIL II right around midnight UTC on Doom's 30th anniversary, and I wasted no time in jumping into it. He was even nice enough to drop in during the livestream and offer a couple of tips. Many thanks to John on both counts!

I'm definitely glad I selected Hurt Me Plenty for my first playthrough, as this episode wastes no time throwing the player into the deep end, and is plenty brutal at times even on this difficulty. I only felt like things really started to flow for me from the 4th level onward. Aesthetically, there's lots of impressive work throughout.

That being said, now that I know a thing or two about how some of the secrets work, I'm hoping to have another go at this, also as an excuse to listen to Jimmy's MIDIs the next time around (as the MIDI version of the WAD dropped a couple of hours after the THORR OST version I played here).

You can find the free MIDI versions and paid MP3 versions of both SIGIL WADs at https://romero.com/sigil
