As promised, today i'll be kickstarting my yearly series of survival horror games, albeit slightly later than i planned due to the schedueling issues on the channel. However, as we are finally here, i'd like to invite you to join me on another return to the world of Silent Hill series for the first time since 2022 as i play through the series' prequel, Silent Hill: Origins. About Game: Silent Hill: Origins (Referred to as Silent Hill Zero in Japan) is 2007 Survival Horror video game developed by Climax Studios and published by Konami, originally as PlayStation Portable exclusive before being ported to PlayStation 2 in 2008. It is a fifth mainline entry in Silent Hill video game series, first major entry in the series not to be developed by Konami Computer Entertainment's "Team Silent" and first mainline entry of the series released after Team Silent was disbanded in 2005, serving as the prequel to 1999's Silent Hill and thus, being chronologically first game in the series. Upon release, Silent Hill: Origins received generally positive reviews from the critcs, although criticism came at the expense of the game's lack of gameplay innovation compared to the series' earlier entries and the story which was noted that, while appealing to the series' existing fans due to its strong connection to original Silent Hill, wouldn't bring in many new fans. However, overall reception of the game was positive, ensuring the future to the series with sixth mainline entry, Silent Hill: Homecoming released for seventh-generation consoles in 2008.
Story of the game follows a man named Travis Grady who found himself trapped in Silent Hill after rescuing a mysterious girl from a house fire. Intent on finding out if the girl survived, Travis finds himself on an trek through eerily abandoned town and soon finds himself in an fight for his life as he discovers that the town is full grotesque monsters, also discovering dark secrets of the town's residents and facing his personal demons in the process.
One night while running a delivery in Maine, trucker named Travis Grady nearly runs over a mysterious girl as she bolts out onto the road in front of his truck. Managing to stop in time, Travis heads out to check on the girl, only for her to vanish, prompting Travis to continue further down the road in order to find her. As he does, Travis stumbles upon an burning house and sees an unknown woman leaving the scene before hearing screams from within the house. Realizing that someone is still trapped in the house, Travis rushes inside and upon reaching the upper floor, finds a horrifically burned girl laying in the middle of what appears to be an ritualistic circle. Despite the girl telling Travis to let her burn, he picks her up and carries her out of the house, managing to place her on the grass outside before passing out.
Following day, Travis wakes up on an bench at an unknown location covered in thick fog. Upon getting up, he finds the map confirming that he is in Silent Hill and, remembering the events of the previous night, decides to set out to an nearby hospital to check if the girl he had rescued from the house fire was admitted there...
