The importance of playtesting is probably the first thing you learn in a game design class lol but for whatever reason it hadn't occurred to me until recently that I could improve my game so much faster by essentially making it a digital board game and only automating the mechanics once I've actually playtested them. Also I'm still working on my Dungeon Crawler, but sometimes I come back to my card game when I get sudden bursts of motivation
